Elizabeth (Bebe) Wolfe now runs the studio started by her parents, Karl and Mildred Nungester Wolfe, over 60 years ago. First built on its present site, a mile or two outside the Jackson city limits as established at that time, this quiet retreat has been a place of exceptional artistic energy and creativity.
In recogition of Karl's and Mildred's lifetime of work including their artistic influence in the community, and of the remarkable continuity of this creative activity, the Wolfe Studio was honored to receive the 2009 Governor's Award for Artistic Excellence in Visual Arts.

| The Wolfe Birds
Each bird is individually hand glazed from an ever-changing palette of colors. These decorative ceramic birds are suitable as gifts for all occasions; a second or third bird becomes the start of a unique and personal collection.
Generations, mothers and daughters, and now grand-daughters, each enjoy their own displays, no two alike, because each bird is individually hand made by the artists here in Jackson, Mississippi.

| The Handmade Process
The master sculptures for the slip cast shapes are all created in the studio, primarily by Bebe Wolfe. Many of the forms are evolved from the small ceramic sculptures her parents began making in the 1950's. Low fire glazes are used in many combinations with constant experimentation and creativity in design and color.
This sort of ongoing exploration is in accord with Karl and Mildred's original intent and working methods, and insures a continuation of lively high quality work and joy in the making.
